November 10, 2017: How can we Live?

Ezekiel 33:10-11 (NIV)
10  “Son of man, say to the house of Israel, ‘This is what you are saying: “Our offenses and sins weigh us down, and we are wasting away because of them. How then can we live?”‘
11  Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house of Israel?’

Weighed down by the weight of your sins and failures? Out of strength to stand against iniquity in the land?  Find yourself wanting to give up? How shall we live in such circumstances?  Perhaps you have believed the lie that God desires to wipe you out. He has turned his back on you because of your sins and failures.  If you read only parts of the Old Testament you may reach that conclusion but God leaves Ezekiel with absolute assurance as to what God thins of his children.  If you can possibly grasp this truth believe this and act upon it and you will come forth from your place of confession with new life surging through your veins.

“As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in eth death of the wicked, but rather that they turn and live.”  Can you possibly believe this?  These words were spoken to a nation that had rebelled against every possible commandment. They even invented ways doing evil that God even said he did not even think his people would stoop so low.

What is God’s heart for his people, even though they have become AS MORALLY CORRUPT AS POSSIBLE?  He desires that they find life not death.  He delight sin showing mercy and not judgment.

Out of gas in your walk with the Lord?  Have you given up the battle with sin in your life?  It is time for you to turn back and come home to the God who delights to show you mercy.  Why not take a moment right now to turn back to him and ask him to restore you the years you have wasted.

It is in turning to God that we live,
