October 16, 2017: No More Gloom

October 16, 2017: No More Gloom

Isaiah 9:1 (NIV)
1  Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the Gentiles, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan–

There was an old television series that had a song that was often sung during a show that went: “Gloom, Despair and agony on my. If it weren’t for bad luck I‘d have no luck at all. Gloom, despair and agony on me.”

This may be the tune of this world but it will not be the tune of those who have entered the Kingdom of God.  The promise of Isaiah rings across the mountains and enters every tribal village where death and disease reign.  It enters every inner city where crime and violence lurk in every alley and back room. IT rings across every suburban home where threats of divorce and neglect are often common as parents abandon their children to the entertainment devices so they can pursue their dream job or dream position in some company.

This ring is oud and grows with each passing day as its words are spoken by those who proclaim God’s promises to those who will listen.  Consider this truth and let its words give birth to joy from another kingdom.

Isaiah 9:1 (NIV)
1  Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress . . .

Waiting for our Messiah’s second arrival,
