October 18, 2017: When and Where the Impossible Happens.

Numbers 21:16-17 (HCSB)
16  From there ⌊they went⌋ to Beer, the well the LORD told Moses about, “Gather the people so I may give them water.”
17  Then Israel sang this song: Spring up, well—sing to it!

Isaiah 48:21 (HCSB)
21  They did not thirst when He led them through the deserts; He made water flow for them from the rock; He split the rock, and water gushed out.

Are you finding yourself in a difficult spot this morning?  Feeling overwhelmed.  At a Dead end.  Facing an impossible situation.

Take heart dear child of God.  Consider what our God did with his chosen people when he first called them out of Egypt.  They followed, yet only reluctantly.  They believed but only because they were overwhelmed with the miraculous.  Even then, they still were exposed as stubborn hardhearted rebels.

Have you not been just like the Israelites of old?  How often have you found yourself turning to other idols, which cannot hear and speak or save?  How consistent are you in following the Lord?

Before you despair, consider what the Lord our God did for his chosen nation in spite of their rebellion.

Isaiah 48:21 (HCSB)
21 they did not thirst when He led them through the deserts; He made water flow for them from the rock; He split the rock, and water gushed out.

Do you find yourself in a desert land, finding your soul parched because it has been too long since you found water?  Have you reached the point of sheer exhaustion trying to dig wells in the desert?  Does all your effort only produce dry lifeless piles of sand and hard rocks of unbelief that seem to be immovable?

Then take just a moment to consider what God can and will do if you only look up and away to Him.

He will not cause you to waste away in thirst in the desert.  He will speak to the hard rock of unbelief and from that very site you will find life giving water bubbling up to satisfy your thirst for God once again.  Be like Moses who stood before the rock and cried out to God, “Spring up Oh Well.”

Sing to your barren circumstance and watch what God will do.  Perhaps today will be the day that your impossible immovable obstacles will become a well of life giving water.

Time to sing and trust the Lord who gives water in the desert and springs in the wasteland.
