February 4, 2018: What is God up to?

Ephesians 1:9-10 (NIV)

9  And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, 10  to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment–to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.

“I wish I could figure God out.”

“Why is it so hard to discover what God wants me to do?

All very good questions, but the truth of the matter is the answers have already been given to us. They are right in front of us but we are so busy trying to figure it out we do not stop to read what He has already told us.

“He made known the mystery of his will . . .”  It is no longer a mystery because he has made it known to us. What is his will?  It is simply that every knee and every power on earth on under the earth and in the universe will bow before his Son.

Whenever we share the gospel with someone, whenever we speak a word of encouragement that comes from the Scripture reminding others of the God they are accountable to, whenever we pray for the advancement of his kingdom on earth, whenever ever we confess our sins and seek to walk in right relationship with Him we are doing his will.

When you look around it is often depressing to see so many not yet in submission to Christ.  If you only look at what your eyes see, you will become depressed but look no longer in that direction but look behind the scenes and see how there are many who are working tirelessly praying and laboring for the advancement of the kingdom of God.  It is advancing even if you do not yet see it.

One day the kingdom will arrive in a glorious fashion and all will see the mighty working of our great God and savior. We can see it by faith because we have been given His Spirit who makes known to us all things.

Let us lift up our head and look to the skies for He will soon return to set up his everlasting kingdom.  Until then we know what we are to do so let us labor until he comes.

Praying until all hear, preaching until all know,
