February 11, 2018: I was chosen by God!

Ephesians 1:11 (NIV)
11  In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will

Mark 10:49 (NIV)
49  Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.”

How many can remember the times when everyone was lined up and it was time to pick teams and the two captains began their selection.  You remember those times don’t you?  Everyone was picked but you and one other and neither Captain wanted to pick either of you.  There was some deliberation and finally, it was decided and much against their will they agreed to choose and you were the last one chosen.  Then it was time for the game and you spent most of your time just running up and down the field but never having a chance to kick the ball because no one ever passed it to you or gave you a chance.

You knew they were wise to not give you the ball because you were not coordinated enough to help the team win.  You were a drawback to your team and everyone knew it.  I well remember those times.  I hated being lined up like that and being the last one chosen.  I knew I was chosen against the will of the captain and I felt like a useless addition to the team.

O, but praise be to God Most High, this team I am now playing on is nothing like the teams I was the last to be selected.  When I opened this marvelous Book of Life and read this text I found a spring in my step.  I was not God’s afterthought, God was not forced to select me, I was selected before the foundation of the world.  God chose me to be on his team way before there was ever a lineup.  Not only was I chosen before time began but I was chosen in such a way that I will never be a hindrance to the team because God has given me His Holy Spirit and He is living his life through me so that I might accomplish things only God can do.

No more a useless reject that just runs up and down the field of life.  I am now living with the very power and creative energy of God himself flowing through me.  It is my time to play and I can now run with clear prupose and energy for I know that God himself is living his life through me, there is no way I can lose.

I am chosen by God for His glory,
