February 23, 2018: A Reason to Fall Down

Ephesians 3:14 (NIV)
For this reason, I kneel before the Father

Ever been overwhelmed with gratitude?  Ever been awed into complete silence?  Ever had your breath taken away by some grand vista or some incredible experience?  This probably sums up what Paul would have to say about his understanding of the ministry he had been given by God.  For a minute let me list for you some of what Paul is experiencing in this marvelous letter to the Ephesians.

“He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.”

 Ephesians 1:4-6 (NIV)
4  For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5  he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will–
6  to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.

Ephesians 1:11 (NIV)
11  In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,

Ephesians 2:4-7 (NIV)
4  But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,
5  made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved. 6  And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,
7  in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:13 (NIV)
13  But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

Ephesians 2:19 (NIV)
19  Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household,

Ephesians 3:12 (NIV)

12  In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

These are just the fringes of his ways and promises and they were enough to cause Paul to fall to his knees in gratitude.  When is the last time you felt such gratefulness to God for what he has done on your behalf?  Perhaps it is time to take a knee before your great God.

Falling down on my knees because of his grace,
