March 1, 2018: The Way to Make Glad the Heart of God

Luke 15:32 (NIV)
32  But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.'”

Think of it, the father was made glad by his wayward son’s return home.  How can this be?  He had wasted all of his inheritance and when he returned home he had nothing to show for it but a ruined life?

Do you hear what the father said?  “But we had to celebrate and be glad?”

What does the Father think of his children who have ruined their lives by their running after so many other things?  How will he receive them if they ever decide to come home again? What will they find when they start their journey back to their father?

The answer is clear, they will find arms open wide, ready to receive them if they only come home and confess their need for him again.

Have you wondered far from home?  Have you wasted your inheritance on running after everything else but him? You have no reason to fear how your Father will receive you, he has already paid the debt for your rebellion, you have only to come home to Him to find his grace to be more than enough to cover all your sin.

So what is keeping you in the far country?  Why not turn back to the God who loves you. He is waiting, longing to bless you.

Isaiah 30:18 (NIV)
18  Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!

Grateful for a Heavenly Father who longs to receive me again and again,
