May 9, 2018: The Certainty of our Resurrection

Romans 6:5 (NIV)
5  If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.

Ephesians 2:5-6 (NIV)
5  made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved.
6  And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,

Do you agree that your sin was so grievous that it took the death of God the Son to pay the penalty for your rebellion?  Do you see your sin as something so wicked that the price would have to be something of infinite worth?  Do you now see as your only hope of forgiveness to be in the death of Christ your God?

If the answers to those questions are all yes then there is good news for you.  “If you have been united with him like this in his death, you will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.”

What is the requirement you have to meet in order to share in his resurrection?  You just have to agree with him that his death should have been yours.  His cross should have been your cross.  His suffering should have been your suffering. If you are in agreement with God about that then resurrection is already yours.

When once you are embraced by the fact that Christ’s death was your death you will find that your life takes on a different position.  You are no longer to live as one under condemnation and judgment but as one who is already alive and living in the heavenlies in Christ. This new position places you far above all other powers and authorities.  So far above in fact that they can never reach you anymore.  If they could ever reach into the heavenlies they would not be able to find you for your life is now hidden with Christ in God.  When your arch enemy seeks to find you he will not be able to locate you he will only be able to find Christ when old slew foot goes looking he will only run into your Lord who is the guardian of your soul.

Remember this, that every time  Old Slew Foot sought out Jesus to do him harm he was always sent scurrying away in great fear and so it will always be this way from now on if you have been embraced by the Cross of our Lord Jesus.

I love to watch Old Slew Foot, Apollyon, my arch deceiver go scurrying off when he tries to come after me.  My big brother, Jesus, is now my defender and my fortress what shall I fear?

I have attached a great song by Dennis Jernigan that expresses in the best way I know what it means to be hidden in Christ.  It was written for a friend of his that had suffered from cancer and the church prayed for him to be healed for over a year but the healing did not come in the way they expected.  I think you will be blessed by taking time to listen to this great hymn of truth about being hidden in Christ.

Living my life hidden in Christ,
