January 4, 2019: The Great Invitation of God

Isaiah 55:1 (NIV)
1  “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.

It will be a celebration to end all celebrations.  There will be no expense spared.  The party will be hosted by the greatest host in the universe. It will be attended by all angelic host.  Celebrities of the faith will be there from across the centuries.  It will be a roll call of the faithful from every corner of the globe from every part of human history.

King David will be there, Rahab, the harlot.  Ruth, the Moabitess. Elijah and Elisha the two Old Testament prophets will be in attendance.  Moses and Aaron will be there.  Saints who did not get their name in the Bible will be there to tell their stories of rescue and faith.

No other award ceremony will even come close to equaling this all out celebration.

Who gets to attend this party?  Will it be only for those who have dressed the part, played on the field of faith, subdued lions, faced firing squads, and stood the text of being burned alive, cross rivers as on dry ground?  If it was to be a party given by the world this might be answered in the affirmative. But this party is not one being held by those from this world.

This party is being hosted by the one who has said, “Come buy wine milk and honey without cost.”  The only way you get to this party is realize that you do not measure up, you are bankrupt and have no way to purchase a ticket.  If this is you, you get in.  All you have to do is show up and give the host your name.  He already has it on his guest list. Welcome to the party. It is about to start.

See you at the Celebration
