January 16, 2019: The Indestructible Word

Jeremiah 36:32 (NIV)
32  So Jeremiah took another scroll and gave it to the scribe Baruch son of Neriah, and as Jeremiah dictated, Baruch wrote on it all the words of the scroll that Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire. And many similar words were added to them.

Jehoiakim, the king, asked his servants to read what Jeremiah had written and as they read from the scroll that Baruch had transcribed, the king took a knife and cut off the pages and threw them in the fire until every page had been burned up.

Jeremiah went to the king and delivered God’s word in person.  The judgment for destroying God’s Word meant that none of his children would ever sit on the throne.  He would-be cast out and his body would not be buried but destroyed by the elements.

Thinking he had destroyed Jeremiah’s words, the king thought he was safe. God called Jeremiah and had him rewrite the scroll a second time. Note this time the scroll was longer, much longer.  You cannot destroy the Word of God it will either save you or destroy you, it all depends on your response when you hear it.

I trust you are a lover of God’s Word and seek to love its truths.  It frankly saves you lots of time.
