2 Samuel 21:19-22 (NIV)
“In another battle with the Philistines at Gob, Elhanan son of Jaare-Oregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver’s rod.
In still another battle, which took place at Gath, there was a huge man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot–twenty-four in all. He also was descended from Rapha.
When he taunted Israel, Jonathan son of Shimeah, David’s brother, killed him. These four were descendants of Rapha in Gath, and they fell at the hands of David and his men.”
Are you tired of fighting the enemy of your soul? Are you exhausted from the moment by moment attacks on your spirit? Looking for a day when the battle will be over? I have good news and bad news for you today. The good news is the fight will one day be over for good. The not so good news is that the battle will not stop until you reach the end of your life.
Some of you may be thinking when does the battle end? Look at the text today. When David grew too tired to fight, God raised up those who would stand guard and do his fighting for him. SO, it is with dear Saint. There may come times when we are too tired to lift a hand to fight the enemy. Rest in this promise that your God who knows you and your own strength, and he will see to it that you are defended by his own army.
