May 2, 2020: Reason to Rejoice-We are not Alone!

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 (NIV)

9 Two are better than one because they have a good return for their work: 10 If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!

11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone?

12 Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

I am not advocating for the existence of extraterrestrials. I am only sharing the truth of what God has for man. The preacher bemoaned the fact that to be alone was a grievous evil. In our isolation presently, many are running out of hope. To be isolated is to be cut off from all that really matters.

Sin isolates us from one another and our Creator. Sin keeps us at a distance from each other. The enemy’s devices are to keep us from enjoying the real pleasure of having real friends. We hide and mask and keep ur private fears and sins to ourselves, thinking this will bring us happiness. It never works. Anything that isolates us from others is never healthy.

Now before you go and get all political on me and say how corrupt our leaders are for forcing us away from each other in this pandemic, I want you to think with ma bout something far better.

You see, the worst thing that could ever happen to us is to be isolated from God. The devil cares nothing about how many friends we have in this life if he can keep us from the one friend that really matters. All of your ”friends” here will never know the real you. There are things about you that you don’t want anyone to know of for fear they will not like you anymore.

This is where the good news enters. You have a God who knows all about you, and he loves you, knowing full well all of your sins and weaknesses. Ecclesiastes reminds us that if we have one friend, we are lucky, but a cord of three strands cannot be broken. Here is where the truth provides us with a sure foundation.

We have the real presence of God the Father and God the Son and God the Holy Spirit with us. This cord of three strands no one can break or sever from us.

Now let this truth sink in for a moment. Not only are you not alone, but you have the omnipotent three-stranded cord of the magnificent trinity always with you. Hallelujah, we are not alone ever!
